King Bolete Time

dsc00090

It’s not a good sign when your first bolete of the season is already old and wormy

‘Tis the season to be gathering the Boletus edulis indispensable to those hearty holiday meals. Trouble is, with the anemic rain we’ve had so far, there just aren’t a lot of them up yet. But don’t give up hope. They are out there. And unless you find yours soon, they’re going to look like this one.

Disclaimer: No one should ever – under any circumstances – eat a wild mushroom. It’s much too risky. Especially the ones growing in our favorite patches!
